Gerard encourages dynamic choral performance through intense, thoughtful singing and the idiomatic expression of texts in many languages.

He moved to London to study choral conducting at the Royal Academy under Patrick Russell. Gerard was the Alec Robertson conducting scholar at Westminster Cathedral and graduated with distinction in the final recital.

Earlier, as a distinguished vocal performance graduate from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, Gerard directed the music at St. Joseph’s Church for nine years, conducting several masses for the Archdiocese of Singapore. He is co-founder and co-artistic director the Chroma collective of Singapore singers.

Gerard works for the Westminster Schools Singing programme, and is the Music Director of the Arcadian Singers of Oxford. He is Director of Music at Holy Ghost Catholic Church Balham, and was appointed as our conductor in 2024.
